Vida y obra Nació en el seno de una familia de músicos y recibió sus primeras lecciones de canto, piano y órgano de su padre. A los siete años ingresó como niño de coro en el monasterio de Michaelbeuern, donde continuó su formación musical y recibió educación para el sacerdocio. Sin embargo, pronto se decantó por la música y estudió composición con Michael Haydn, hermano de Franz Joseph Haydn, en Salzburgo.
