Trayectoria vital Hijo de un farmacéutico, era el mayor de siete hermanos —uno de ellos, Friedrich Georg Jünger, también fue escritor y poeta—, y cuando contaba con dieciocho años de edad se escapó de su casa. Viajó hasta Francia, y en Verdún se alistó a la Legión Extranjera. Con ella llegó hasta Sidi-bel-Abbès, de donde fue rescatado por su familia para que acabara sus estudios.
