Historia Su nombre tiene probable origen español (andaluz), y en sus formas iniciales estaba relacionada con el zapateado y con la escena popular, especialmente en Cádiz, España. En Cuba se consolida como un género propio, aunque emparentado con la jácaras y tonadillas del teatro español que se representaban en el teatro vernáculo habanero.
