Formación y vocación agustiniana Desde joven, Prevost se sintió atraído por la vida religiosa —ya de niño sirvió como monaguillo— y la intelectualidad. Estudió en el Seminario Menor de los Padres Agustinos y luego en la Universidad de Villanova (Pennsylvania), donde se licenció en Matemáticas (1977), además de cursar estudios de Filosofía. Ese mismo año ingresó en el noviciado de la Orden de San Agustín (OSA) en Saint Louis (Missouri), y profesó sus primeros votos en 1978, haciendo los votos solemnes el 29 de agosto de 1981.
